While you may be super excited for break with friends, you might not have the right location to cherish your time with others. As you scramble ideas back and forth from friend to friend, you come across the city that is known for it's wind abilities, perfect pizza recipes, and the 2016 World Series Champions: Chicago, Illinois.
"I am completely in love with the windy city. The atmosphere is overly loud, which completes the charm," said Gabby Schannuth, a sophomore at Rockhurst University.
Chicago has many sites to see, which makes a friend or family road trip even more exciting to experience. Some of these attractions include:
Navy Pier
Millenium Park
Shedd Aquarium
Museum of Science and Industry
Cloud Gate (The Bean)
Lincoln Park Zoo
Willis Tower
Wrigley Field
"My favorite attraction in Chicago would be the Navy Pier, because of it's view of the skyscrapers and the lake," Schannuth said. "It would be a great place to show my friends from back home who haven't been able to see it for themselves."
After experiencing many of these attractions Chicago has to offer, you will be hungry. Lucky for you and Chicago natives, there are plenty of restaurants to indulge yourselves in. Some of these eating locations include:
Portillo's
Giordano's
The Purple Pig
Frontera Grill
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba
Carnivale
Chicago's activities, food, and charm is just a drive away. For Kansas City residents, Chicago is eight hours. For St. Louis residents, it is four and a half hours, and for Omaha residents, it is eight hours. Although it might be a longer distance than a normal day trip distance, Chicago has the entertainment to make the drive worth it! So instead of going to the local coffeeshop down the street with your pals, create an experience that is unforgettable.
